European Family Tour
France, Switzerland & Italy
Glatt Kosher Tour

August 9 - 18, 2010

Travel to Europe to have fun with your family. Family tours are especially enjoyable because they are opportunities to see the world through the eyes of the young ones. Children and grandchildren, brothers and sisters bring joi de vivre to a visit to any special place. This tour is special because of the wise mix of fun places, spectacular scenery, and unique pleasures that come with visiting the famous and classical cities of Europe. This is a tour that will be etched in the memories of both the children and the adults as one of the best ever.
We recommend that passengers NOT traveling from Israel/Europe arrive to Paris the day before the start of the tour. Special hotel rates are available for tour participants choosing to benefit from this extra night.

Itinerary
Day 1, Monday: Paris
Our tour starts today with a visit to the Eifel Tower which has become the landmark of Paris. Over 300m high and built for the world exposition in 1889, it was only intended to remain standing for 20 years! When Gustav Eifel finished construction, the people of Paris hated the metal edifice, but today, every Parisian loves the symbol of their city. We will also see the Trocadero with its museums and exhibition halls. We'll stroll along the Champs Élysées – the most famous boulevard in the world. We'll continue seeing as many sights in the city as we can before nightfall.
Day 2, Tuesday: Paris – Disneyland Europe
This is the day we've been waiting for - a full day outing to the world renowned Eurodisney Paris entertainment park! We'll meet all the familiar characters we know from childhood: Mickey Mouse and Goofy, Minnie and Donald Duck. We'll visit the enchanted castles and ride the space train, sail the lake with Tom Sawyer and more. Late at night, we'll return to our hotel in the city.
Day 3, Wednesday: Paris – Versailles – Parc Asterix
Today we'll travel to Versailles, where we'll find the grandest palaces in the world – those of the kings of France. We'll say "hello" to King Louis XIV who welcomes us atop his horse in the front courtyard of the palace, and we'll walk through the palace's most amazing gardens – that have served as examples for royal courts throughout the world. We'll continue to Parc Asterix – named for the indomitable Gaul of the cartoon books bearing his name. He's considered a French national hero! The legend says that Asterix gathered his friends and thanks to the potion brewed by the local druid, they were able to defeat any army that came to fight against the people of Gaul. There are plenty of rides and fun activities in this fantastic theme park.
Day 4, Thursday: Paris - Strasbourg
This morning we'll start with some more of the famous sites in Paris we have not yet seen: Notre Dame Cathedral, located on an Island on the River Seine, the Place de Concord and the two houses of parliament on both its sides, The Garnier Opera House dating back to the 19th century, and more. Afterwards we'll leave Paris and head for Strasbourg.
Day 5, Friday: Strasbourg, Europa Park
We'll cross the border at the meeting place of three countries: Switzerland, France and Germany. We'll head directly to the famous Europa Park. This entertainment park is fun for adults and kids as one. There are areas representing each of the countries in Europe, where each country has its own exhibition hall. There are a multitude of rides and fun activities, trains, roller-coasters and everything in between. We'll spend the day here and then head back to Strasbourg to prepare for Shabbat.
Day 6, Shabbat: Strasbourg
After Shabbat services and breakfast we'll take a walking tour through the streets of Strasbourg and visit the old quarter of the city where we'll see the ancient cathedral, the market square and the alleyways that date back to the middle ages.
Day 7, Sunday: Strasbourg – Basel – Rhine Falls – Mainau - Zurich
After breakfast we'll depart Strasbourg and travel to Basel, the city in which many Zionist Congresses were held that preceded the establishment of the State of Israel. We'll see the Great Synagogue, the balcony of the "Three Kings" hotel where Herzl stood for his famous photograph, and the Rhine River that crosses the city. We'll continue to visit the mighty Rhine Falls. Further on, we'll travel to the island of Mainau on Lake Constance. There we'll see the most beautiful garden in all of Europe. We'll see rare plants, specially sculpted bushes and shrubs, and exhibition halls filled with wonderful plants and flowers. Upon arrival in Zurich we'll enjoy a panoramic bus tour of the city and stroll through the most famous street of the city – the Bahnhofstrasse.
Day 8, Monday: Zurich – Lucerne – Ara River Canyon – Titlis - Lugano
We'll make our way to Lucerne, acknowledged as the most beautiful city in Switzerland. The city lies on the banks of Lake Lucerne. Thousands of tourists come here to see the ancient wooden bridge and the round watch tower that served as a prison during the Middle Ages; the "Dying Lion" that commemorates the brave Swiss soldiers of Louis XVI who fell in defense of the palace in Versailles. We'll also enjoy the amazing scenery. We'll continue to the Ara River Canyon. We'll walk along a suspension bridge strung between the two rock faces of the canyon, while beneath us the Ara River rushes by. We'll continue to the village of Englberg and climb to the top of the Titlis Mountain via a series of cable cars, as we look over the snow capped peaks of this awesome colossus.
We'll end the day at Swiss Minatur – a model of Switzerland in Miniature – displaying mountains and cities, rivers and castles, and more. We'll be delighted by the fascinating displays. Afterwards we’ll head to Lugano for the night.
Day 9, Tuesday: Lugano – Sirmione - Verona
Today we leave Lugano and travel to the picturesque town of Sirmione, on the banks of Lake Garda, one of the prettiest lakes in northern Italy. Sirmione dates back to the middle ages and has a beautiful small castle at its center. Today the town is a popular summer resort. After the visit here we'll travel to Verona, the town of the "Two Gentlemen of Verona" and of "Romeo and Juliet." We'll view the Colosseum, which has remained in almost complete repair since Roman times, and which still hosts operas throughout the year. We'll stroll along the ancient alleys where we'll see Juliet's balcony, from where she still awaits her lover.
Day 10, Wednesday: Verona – Venice – Home Gateway
Today we'll visit the romantic city of Venice, with its squares and canals. We'll visit the historic Jewish ghetto (the name "Ghetto" originates here). We'll spend the day in the city.
In the evening we'll return to the International Airport of Verona from where we'll fly home.

Arrive the next day in Tel Aviv.

Kosher food is provided to our travelers on all our tours. We work with the local Rabbinate to provide Hashgacha for all local ingredients and fresh meat and poultry. In some cases, we fly in kosher food from Israel and other sources, depending on the destination of the tour. We do not guarantee Pat Israel and Chalav Israel for all destinations.

In many destinations we have our own crockery and cutlery. Where we don't, we provide disposables at the meals. When we cook in Hotel kitchens, we ensure proper Kashering and we use our own kitchenware on kashered and covered surfaces. All this is done under the strict supervision of our trained staff/guides who function as our Mashgichim.

Our travelers enjoy gourmet meals prepared by our team including fresh local fish, fruit, and vegetables. This is an integral part of Jewish travel. We make great efforts to assure that our travelers will experience local foods first-hand, while maintaining stringent observance of Kashrut laws on all occasions.
