Rabbi Fellner has graduate degrees in English and American literature from George Washington University and received rabbinic ordination from the Jewish Theological Seminary. He served as a military chaplain in Alaska, where he also taught English literature at Alaska Methodist University. Rabbi Fellner is also a free-lance film critic.
Cantor Howard A Shalowitz earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania, where he received a voice scholarship. After attending the Jewish Theological Seminary of America Cantors Institute, he received his Juris Doctor degree from Washington University School of Law.
From 1979 to the present, Cantor Shalowitz has led High Holy Day services throughout North America, including 9 years at the prestigious Sutton Place Synagogue in New York City and 3 years at Shaare Zedeck Synagogue in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He is currently chairman of the Cantors Assembly's Ambassador Committee - leading services and lecturing on Jewish music throughout North America. He has also been the hazzan in residence at 6 week-long Imun adult education programs for lay leaders of congregations.
He sings at naturalization ceremonies in federal court and even delivered a singing telegram to the famous opera star, Luciano Pavarotti. He is on the Board of Directors of the St. Louis Circle of Jewish Music. Cantor Shalowitz wrote, narrated and produced 4 television programs for the Jewish holidays: The Sound of the Shofar, The Light of the Menorah, The Cup of Elija and The Scroll of Esther, which have aired on St. Louis television. He won a national Telly Award in 2000, as co-host of the weekly television show Legally Speaking in St. Louis. Cantor Shalowitz has received significant notice in the print and electronic media for his dual accomplishments as a lawyer and a cantor.
Dr. Abraham J. Gittelson... our on board "Scholar in Residence" has been involved in all phases of Jewish Education in South Florida for more than four decades. He has lectured throughout the United States, has led teacher and youth study tours to Israel and is an expert on the Jewish communities of the Caribbean. Dr. Gittelson will offer special lectures and classes on a wide range of topics including some fascinating insites on the Islands we will be visiting... from the Jewish perspective. Dr. Gittelson's presentations are guaranteed to enlighten and stimulate and will be one of the memorable highlights of your Passover At Sea |
